What's in your "kill kit".

When I got my doe this year, I found my kit lacking. I had my Buck Vangard knife with gut hook, Latex gloves, reflective markers for blood and a deer drag. Carried that for years. Then when it came time, I found I was a bit lacking. Thankfully another, more experience hunter helped me out and he was better equipped. Now I think I have too much in my kit, lol. I'm a gear head, so I'd love to hear from you guys so I might be able to fine tune my kit.

hunters in my area recommend a small bone saw. I don't think I would go out in the woods without my leatherman multitool.

I carry a couple of gallon bags for the heart and liver; sandwich bags for the paper harvest tag.

I also carry a glow stick in my pack for when I kill a deer at the end of the day. It makes it a lot easier to find the downed deer in the dark and they are 2 for $1.00 at the dollar store.

In terms of a "kill kit" I keep it simple. Drop point knife and about 10 feet of rope to rig a drag harness. I have carried a Butt Out tool on occasion but that's about it. It's a good idea to carry a plastic bag for the heart and liver if you want keep them.

My situation may be different than some of y'all. I'm never too far from the road/truck/camp., and with cell phone help is close by. I could carry a few things more I suppose,but I really dont like carrying as much as I do.

...my "kill kit" (never heard it said this way)...is more of a function of whether it is morning or afternoon, whether I am staying on post for the entire day or not, how tired I am and or whether or not I feel I can remove some of the stuff....

...everything previous posters have said is pretty much what I carry, sans the TP as I am fortunate to take care of that B4 I go in (but I do like the idea for marking a trail to a deer, etc) and the scotch (but there was a day when that would come in also- fortunately I don't drink.)..

...on the warm days I have my themacell with me, cold days there are handwarmers...

...rangefinder and saw for branches, pins to hold up blind, tree hangers

...also I never forget the Expresso coffee, Italian hero and some Italian music ...

...that's about it...

My kit has many of the same things as in the first posts improved kit. One thing I changed several years ago which has saved me a lot of time is to get a knife with a blaze orange handle. Mine's a Kershaw, however, I think others like Buck make them as well. Now when I put my knife down for a few seconds I don't have to spend a half hour looking for it.

I never could understand why camo is pushed on hunters for everything. Stuff like knives and flashlights are better if they are bright orange or any color except camo so we can find them on the ground.
