Un-Cocking a Micro

Post by xs109c2 »

When uncocking a 335 or 380 per instructions will it jerk the rope cocker out of your hand since you are holding the entire poundage with only one hand? Could you just have a extra rope cocker that is shorter to help? Thanks guys

Load an arrow, point it at the ground, move safety to off, pull trigger.

I've been using this method since I started hunting with a crossbow (15 years or so, time flies when you're having fun  ) and have yet to damage anything.
(the ground where I hunt is relatively free of rocks)

As long as you can cock it, you will be able to uncock it. Just make sure your hooks are on secure and you'll have no problem. Once you try it you'll see it's no big deal.

As long as you have preload on the rope cocker it won't jerk or tug it violently. Put you rope cocker on, place your foot in the stirrup, pull with your dominant hand pull up so it is taught with preload and squeeze the trigger, (and ADF if applicable) then, slowly allow the rope cocker to go down. A firm secure grip is required.

If you are unsure of your ability to hold it with one hand, and manipulate the ADF, and trigger, do as Wabi does. Get a cheap unloading target, and forget about it! I'm comfortable uncocking mine, but it does take some skill with an ADF.

Uncocking is actually easier than cocking. Scary the first time but easier. :D

X2 Its not a big deal at all. Just get a firm grip and ease it to uncocked position.

Piece of cake & I was un-cocking my Equinox while up in a tree stand when I realized that I had forgot to remove the arrow when the BH started to hit my boot. I was very lucky in that my son was close by and he was able to climb up and get the arrow out while I was holding the cocking rope. Remember to ALWAYS check what you are doing.

The main reason I got an excalibur was the ability to uncock it without having to fire it after every hunt!

X4. Just grip tightly and be careful to not hit your pinky on the stock when it goes down.

Also lots of swords if the arrow doesn't finish the job :D
