zombie bolts
Need some input fellas. I have some 20" zombie bolts that I believe came with the 110gr. Weighted inserts. I'm planning on cutting them down to 17"s, my question is will the 110gr weighted inserts now be to heavy, should I get some a little lighter. I shoot a matrix 380, 100gr head. Thanks
Re: zombie bolts
You will be fine. You are cutting off 3 inches at 9.1 grains per inch. Thus your arrow will be a tad over 27 grains lighter when finished. If you want to maintain the same weight you actually need to go to 125 grain heads.

Thanks robertyb, I'd like to pick up a little speed and see black eagle has 80 & 92 grain inserts. I take it if I go with either of those I would still be fine?

Re: zombie bolts
I shoot 17" zombies out of all my bows. I like the lighter, aluminum inserts and here is why. I can achieve three arrow weights that I like just by interchanging components: 354gr, (150gr field point, plastic nock), 374gr (150gr field point and lumenock), or 394gr (170gr field point and lumenock).
Broadhead choices have to be heavier with the lighter insert but that doesn't bother me because I want to try 175gr slick tricks and the 170gr FOC this year.

I'm using 100 grain heads with 92 grain inserts, 17" zombies, fly great. I'm around 370 grains total.
