M380/Aging's stock & other mods. Finally!!

Post by SEW »

My goal has been to have 2 crossbows fully optimized for long range hunting and one of them also for daily shooting. Both the 380 & 405 have risers drilled to take the wooden stock, but it will primarily be on the 380. I've done all I know to quieten the crossbow. It is now quieter than my Solution 350 even though the S350 is shooting a heavier arrow. Matrix xbow's can be quietened significantly. And yes, the wooden stock significantly helped noise reduction in addition to a # of other mods. Note the raised arrow retention spring with double shrink wrap also , rubber wrapped , cloth tape over the rubber, stirrup, air brakes, string silencers, polished TT string holding prongs.
Here are a few pictures.

The noisier xbow below: the Sol 350. When you have a bow quieter than a Sol 350, you have a quiet xbow.

I want to add that this was my first attempt at making the C-2 cranker work on anyone's stock. I do not like even the thought of cranking and having that thing moving back and forth scratching the wood. I did get some input from another member on using brass it cover the butt and protect it but that is as far as we have gone on it. If I do come up with and idea or if anyone else has some input on it feel free to contact me. If it works out I will gladly update Sew's stock to match that. As of right now there is a lot of torqueing going on back there which cannot be helped.

If I ever use the C-2 on that stock, I will ream out the inside of the cocker and bed it like a gun stock being bedded. I'll have a spacer when I do this and line the bedding with a soft, padded material.

Even though next month I'll be 68, I'm hanging in there physically. No meds, exercise daily.
