Excalibur Micro takes its first turkey...

Post by Cali74 »

I love turkey season and spend a lot of time getting ready for the opener each year both fall and spring seasons.
This year I purchased a Micro to get my wife in the blind and of course had to test it out before getting her set up for a hunt.
I have never killed turkeys with anything other than a vert bow so I was excited to try something new.
Using 100g guillutine bh on a 16" BEE (taw of 406gr) in my new Micro Nightmare I was ready to find a worthy test subject.
Well after 6 hours in the blind and a turkey dinner promised to the wife, I was not going to be picky. Two jakes came into my decoy and the micro made short work of its first shot in the field.
The Micro took the birds head clean off and sent it flying 5 yards past where it started rolling down the hill.
Arrow was another 10 yards with all 1 1/4" blades attached and no chips out of any of them. Looks good enough to resharpen and put back in the quiver...

Just to show he was a legal bird for any haters out there... This ones for the eaters not breeders crowd

The first picture is quite possibly the best photo I have seen on this forum. Congrats on a clean kill with your wife's new bow!

I agree. the Micro make the turk head look huge. Awesome shot man
as far as the jake goes . My buddy and I were talking about whether we should let them walk or not.
He said as much time and effort he spend to turkey hunt and the very few chances he gets ..jakes do not get to walk . He also said (and I agree) the jakes taste better.
Now since I have one decent gobbler under my belt and its still early I may give one a pardon. but then again I may not
