#2 in the freezer!!

Post by strum »

I got my second bird yesterday morning!!
Called him in using my Woodhaven Yellow Venom
That's two with the diaphrams and my boxes and slates have stayed home.
He was a Jake and I didn't get any pics (sorry guys)
Before yall hate me you have to know I got skunked last year and the way I see it . A bird in the freezer is worth a gazzillion dollars in turkey gear and countless hours in the woods and two in the bush
Now the pressure is off and I can concentrate on the Big mature Tom I seen a few days ago. All I need now is the weather to cooperate.
Just got in from this mornings hunt. Cold windy not a peep out of a turk .. but hey I hunted ..love it!!!

fuzzy wrote:Nice job :) . Not gonna hate but will wolf you for no story and no pics  :P . To answer your question on my thread, I'm gonna say a late March hatched two year old as compaired to a mid to late May hatch. Only 1" hooks. Make any sense? Good luck.
yeah I got out of there pretty fast , backed into my yard , hung him up and started dressing. it was about the time I was bagging all the parts I realized no pics. I just was all about getting the meat in the freezer..
as for the story . I set up just before daylight and didn't hear anything till around 8:15 I heard a gobbler way way off behind me. so I called and got nothing . but im setting there with that feeling that something is coming.so I stay silent for a bit . about the time I started to make another call I see this guy coming off the mt. he was at least 200 yards away but was making a beeline to me. at 100 yards I see him stop and he must have seen my decoy because he did a real quick fan display and then kept on coming. all I had to do was sit and wait for 30 yards  gun ready at about 30 he was standing tall for a split second and flopping the next. :D
heres the kicker. when I packed up and headed to my truck in the direction I heard the gobbler what yall think I see?. yep toped the mn.t to a big flat and there he is 50 yards out staring straight at me with his bigole white baseball head. I think he was up there struttin all morn and I only heard him as he faced me a couple of times. anyway I got his address now!! be back tuesday :D
