My sons first turkey and a beauty Tom.
Hello all,
My son graduated from school and returned home about two weeks ago. He has been gone for almost 2 years. He sure matured and grew (6'5 now) while he was away. I don't think he was home more than an hour before he asked to go out for a hunt. We have been out about 4 times and each time I had a Tom come into about 100 yards but he wouldn't bite on my Pretty Boy and hen. This morning we headed out at about 3:30 and I set up all 4 of my hens and the Pretty Boy. I started my usual calling and at about 6:30 I had a hen answer me and come out into the field we were set up in. Both her and I bantered back and forth at each other for about 15 minutes. I then heard a faint gobble and told Kevin to get ready. After about 10 minutes a beauty Tom came into the field about 75 yards from us. The hen was right in front of the blind between the decoys and the Tom. He fanned in and out strutting away and slowly worked his way towards the decoys/hen. I was able to get some great shots of both the hen and the Tom;
The Tom made his way to about 35 yards from us and put on quite a show for the hen;
I was having such a good time taking the pictures I forgot to tell Kevin to let him have it. He whispered to me "I've got a good shot". He dropped the hammer and harvested a beauty Tom.
The Tom was 23 lbs - 10' beard and 1 spur (other was missing) 1 1/4.
It was a perfect hunt sharing the experience of his first Tom with him~!
I have a number of pictures of the other hunts during this season that I will post later. I wanted to create a separate thread for my sons first.
Cheers,

Congratulate the fine young for me, and pat yourself on the back for raising him in a supportive, encouraging family!
