WHAT IS YOUR LONGEST KILL SHOT ?

With archery it was 35 yards. With a rifle, it was 325 paces on a jackrabbit running (1 shot) with a 223.

I feel long distance shots with a crossbow should not be taken in most situations. There are just too many variables which you no longer have control over in making sure you get a good hit.

Remember this was a question on distance shots, not on ethic code. I've seen your bow, I think I can run faster than it.
This is one reason why people wont answer these questions truthfully. And why I mostly stay out.

Seriously though, lets keep this thread happy and on question. Not ethics.

John I was not meaning to turn this thread into eithics. I truely believe that nobody has the right to judge anothers shot unless they were there any knew the full situation (all variables). My statement was no long shots in "most" situations.

Compound Bow: 35 yards
Crossbow: 40 yards, twice with my Exomax.
Muzzleloader: 100 yards (with a .50 round ball and open sights)
Rifle: 200 yards (.30-06)

And all of the shots above were at doe.

My longest kill shot at a buck with archery gear is 30 yards. Apparently my standards are a lot lower when shooting doe.

compound 39 for a deer and 29 on a bull moose with my exomag .most shots under 20 yards for me .on a different note closest was a few less than 5 yards both compound and crossbow.wood chucks 250 range with the 222 rifle

I think you just volunteered as a target for the potato cannons at BooFest

The bow you saw of mine was the Astro Daco, it is my sparelimb for the Relayer. I have never hunted with it and very seldom shot it.

Back on topic, a 150lb bow will still get a pass through at 50 yards even with a "lobbed arrow"

47 yds wid Marie Laveau is longest wid crossbows. 140 yds wid a T/C 54 cal Renegade n Maxiball. a bunch wid a rifle past 400 yds, 25-06 Rem. BDL wid handloads. Recurve Bow 24 yds

This is only my 3rd year with a crossbow and I have yet to shoot anything over 20 yards. With a compound, my longest was 45 yards in an open pasture. The bow was shooting a smoking 250 fps and the arrow blew through the doe and went another 25 yards. With a gun, I have 2 ranged kills that were in the 260's.
