Islington Sportsmens Club 3D shoot

I was surprised today that the Islington Sportsmens Club 3D shoot today was the only event scheduled for central Ontario (on the Ontario Archers Association website) and there were no other crossbowers in attendance. Admittedly I have only seen 4 other courses in the region, but this was the prettiest course I've seen with 40 different targets (some with 2 to choose from), 2 shots from elevated platforms, and many elevation differences to challenge yardage estimations. I played alongside a member of the club and he admitted that crossbows hadn't been allowed in the past, but at the awards handout I was told I was the 1st ever crossbow competitor they'd hosted and enthusiastically encouraged me to come back for future tournaments.

So for all the long time crossbow guys & gals in the area who probably avoided this venue/club I'd suggest checking it out the next time an opportunity comes up. The location also features stocked lakes, multiple gun ranges, a well provisioned archery range, a nice clubhouse, and 100+ acres of maple syrup producing forest.

All in all it was a great day of shooting and well worth the visit.

Ahhhh.....if only you were 10178 miles closer!

I would love to shoot my Xcal in a 3D comp. The only club nearby here which shoots 3D has a NO XBOW absolute policy.

Thanks for getting the word out. Haven't shot that club yet but we'll have make a point of it in the future. We had another crossbow event yesterday and Terry E. was helping us out so we would have missed it this time around anyway. Today is the Oxford shoot, another great course. Gonna miss it too but plan on going to their fall shoot. Hope you can make that one.
