A take down shotgun case ( Doskosil/GunGuard) is 36" inside. plenty wide enough for your Matrix.. Put a piece of foam between riser-limb assembly and stock-rail assembly. Small, compact and takes two bolts to be hunting.

The link above is $62, you can do better w/ just a dbl gun case w/o the cutout for a rifle...........

It doesn't come with the rifle plucked out, that's just to show you can fit a full size AR in it. Brother Ron and I have the same idea... and after 1200 what's another 60 to protect it on the way to the lease/field????

I currently have one of those. They work good but are too long for my taste.
I decided to go with the plano 108361 because it is over a foot shorter and I can pluck the foam to fit.

I have the 108361 in the 42"....may be a different number because it's a larger case. It's a great case and I plucked out a spot for a dozen arrows and the stirrup. It's now sitting in my spare room unused because when I travel you're paying for each piece of luggage and your weight is limited. So, I'm back to using my Plano Bowmax Double Bow Case. I can break my riser off the rail and strap the riser and rail down separately, load my arrows and tackle box, binos, rangefinder and trigger Stix. I then pack extra clothes in the case and make sure I'm under 45lbs. I've found this to be the most effective and feasible for me.

Paul, could you possibly open it up and post a picture or two for me?
My 108361 will hopefully be here tomorrow and would like to see how you have yours set up

Thanks
Ron.
