Which is more accurate for the 405, 100 or 125gr.?

Post by bigrak »

Broadheads, field tips? Arrow length, 18 or 20?
What's everyone's experience for accuracy with the 405?
Thanks for any replies.

It depends on your setup. ie. type/weight of inserts, helical or offset, plastic or aluminum nocks...Personally I'd go with 92gr brass inserts and 100gr points with plastic nocks or 125 gr points with Luminoks. Or 110gr brass inserts with either nocks and either 100gr or 125 gr points.

I shoot a 20" Victory carbon shaft, brass inset with a G5 100gr Striker broad head. Total weight 402gr. No complaints at all. Learned the hard way early not to shoot at the same spot on the target two shots in a row! The bottom line is trying different things...as you'll see as folks chime in. Good Luck!

Shooting 492 gr arrows, BE Executioners at 20" with 150gr field tips. (arrows made by borkholder archery). I stack them on each other so each shot is at a different POI. I've even got some 170 gr I've shot out of it and it dropped the POI 1" at 40 yards and still buried the bolt to the knock.

I guess my point of posting is this: you can't go to heavy with the 405 out to 60 yards. You're going to have pass through on anything you shoot in North America at that range. I'd get the NAP 150gr or Rage 125's, personally I'd stay away from 100gr anything as it will loose up front punch... IMHO

Unless you have Brass up front first!
Otherwise with those heavy fronts, past 50 yds. will start to drop like rocks and wont match chevrons anymore.

I'd second the brass inserts on a 100 grain. You want to optimize your front of centre. With the Diablos I normally go with 150/170 grain broadhead.
