Skeeters i can deal wid n those nasty red bug/chiggers. The 90 degree temps n a dead deer wid lots of flys is more than i care to fool widflinthead wrote:14 days to go in the low country of South Carolina...plenty of skeeters and chiggers to go around... y'all come!
Re: 75 Days Countin Down
Yep, screw all the early season bugs during the heat. I killed a doe a couple years ago on Sept 15, and in the 10 min I waited to go get her, she was covered solid in black files and mosquitoes!!! It was sick. I couldn't get it home fast enough to gut and skin her out, then get her on ice. Told myself that was the last hot weather deer I was ever gonna get.

In my part of the woods, also have Yellow Jackets to deal with. I don't hunt deer when temps get above 85 . I wonder how the Native American Indian dealt with all the pest.

I'm hard headed though ... It will be buck only on Aug. 15 ... if I have some velvet horns showing up on my trail camera ,,, it will be time for the ol' 355 to go to work.
