Arrow Question....

Post by Sandman »

EDITED - Just got a call from RJ  Its been a long day and my math is off!

This may not the brightest question but most of the arrow talk is over my head being fairly new to the sport. I have an Exomax and I was considering using Beman bolts? I understand that I will be losing approx 40 fps. The fella at the store said that I will be going from 350 (L II's) to approx 335 with these bolts. I imagine there are a few of ya  your eyes but I am not sure if this is something that I should do or will 15 fps make that much of a difference?

Confused,

If the arrows are safe to shoot why not?
The question would be, why not buy the recommended arrows, and what are your intentions while you are using them?
335 fps is more than enough to do the job in a hunting situation!
For some the question would be "How long do you want to search for your arrow after a pass through?" And your lowering your fps!
If you got a good deal or something, and these arrows are safe, then go for it! I would say that if you are using the arrows which are recommended as well as the others, don't use them at the same time!
That can really screw up the way you size up your target, etc.
Just .02 for ya
Enjoy the Harvest!

Robin, FWIW I'm going to shoot thunderbolts and 130 grain camlocks off the Max this year. Yep, it will lose a few FPS as these arrows weigh similar to 2216's. I think the extra grunt of the Max justifies a heavier arrow, more KE and less noise.

I may switch back to the lightweights but I'm to try this setup......I'm budgeting for 330-335 fps. That's Exomag velocity but with a much heavier arrow.
