can we just buy one extra one today and if we want to buy another one (my wmu says we can get 6 additional tags) have to wait until sept.

You are correct one now, and then up to five more in your area from the 23-31. Or at the office after that if there be any left. But in the areas there I am sure the extras are for anlerless only so those that only want to shoot bucks will not buy so there should be many left for there.
