I was told by Danny miller that the 310 would not be damaged if dri fired with the original string on it as the original string would not come off the limbs during a dri fire. The bigger Matrix models are probably a different story, but I think the 310 and Grizzly are pretty much the same.
HOWEVER.. I just realized that the 310 also comes with the REDS pre installed which may also play a role in preventing limb damage on the smaller Matrix 310 since the string doesn't come off and the REDS absorb some of the string shock.

I added an ADF when I started using custom strings.

So true Kieth, in fact it's really hard to achieve the same speed as the stock endless loop string, with a custom flemish. The weight of the stock string is less than 100 grains 97 on my matrix 355. But i was able to duplicate that speed with a well built D-97, and a force 10, coming in at about 113 grains, Your statement is true. Now with my Ibex the stock string looked like a rope... And weighed 157 grains..So going to a force ten flemish speed jumped up 13 f.p.s. Not so with the matrix series......

Thanks for all the feedback. I checked the limbs with a cotton ball and there ok which made me feel a lot better. I think I will adopt the no one but me shoots the Grizzly . I have a Barnett Recruit recurve if anyone wants to shoot they'll use that one. I can't believe how good the Excal is to take a dry fire like that and come out ok.

I dry fired my Vortex the 3rd time i shot it. Lesson learned. one great thing about these crossbows is that they CAN be. now my Matrix 405 has the ADF on it, but i'm scared of what would happen if those 290 pound limbs dry fired....

had a dry fire with my 380 Matrix not to long ago- Thank the good Lord for the ADF which saved my backside for sure. I also keep my BH back one inch from the front of joining of the Barrel to the limbs assembly. That meaning with the REDS on my Bow if I hadn't had the ADF it most likely mean my Bow might of been still alright. But again I did have the ADF on this Bow in which I sure am glad as no Damage what so ever. :D
