Which rail lube do you use?

Post by SLP82 »

Ok, so quickly looking here, I see many different kinds of rail lube:

1. Horton Archery Crossbow Rail Lube ST091; 1 oz - $3.99 shipped

2. Dead Down Wind Crossbow Rail Lube / Wax (Pack of 3; .15 oz each) - $9.99 shipped (this actually says it can be used on the string and rail)

3. Rail Snot Crossbow Rail Lubricant 1 Oz Tube - $9.95 shipped

4. X-FUEL 325+ High Performance Rail Lube Fluid 1 oz - $11.99 shipped

5. Excalibur Ex-Lube Rail Lubricant 7005 - $13.21 shipped

Does anyone have any experience with these? For convenience factor it would be nice to be able to use the "Dead Down Wind" for both the string and rail lube as it says. At the same time I want to make sure I use whatever will reduce wear on the rail/string the most and hopefully maximize FPS... yeah I know it might now be more than 1 or 2 FPS, but every little bit helps :)

Just looking for some opinions and feedback.

Oh not sure if it matters, but keep in mind, I have the polymer (plastic) framed Grizzly.

I don't use ral lube at all , I just keep the center serving waxed lightly with a quality wax .

Wipe the rail with wd40 then wipe it off to clean the rail.
You don't need anything else.

When I first got my bow someone here mentioned to me to Spray some Jigaloo on a rag and then wipe down the rail, it removes wax and leaves the rail very slippery.

Dalton's on the serving (just rub in what is left on your hand after you wax the string).

Archoil AR2400 dry lube on the rail. Very slick - but dry so it attracts no debris.

X2 on the Archoil, it's good stuff, smells a little strong at first but the odor disputes pretty quick.
I need to get some Dalton's, didn't know it was available again until a few days ago. Been using Scorpion Venom string wax.

See I was going to use Dalton because I saw Danny mention it in posts from 2011 and I know he knows his stuff, but after searching for it and attempting to go to their website it appears they went out of business or no longer sell it. If I am wrong please point me in the direction of it.

Has anyone tested the jigaloo on a polymer rail yet? I don't want to play guinea pig. What about WD40 or Archeroil on the polymer rail? Honestly the dry oil sounds best so far but once again is anyone sure or tested it on platics?
