Flight Shooting

Post by rattlerun »

Maybe this has been discussed before, and if it has, I missed it. A friend and I were shooting today with an M355 and an M380, both shooting about 420 gr. arrows. We started taking about far these crossbows would shoot. Anybody done this? How long of a field would we need if we were to try it?

And make sure you're using Luminoks if you have any thoughts of finding your arrows.

I was 380 yds from a target in Nebraska (we were shooting Sharps rifles) and the guys got to wondering how far my crossbow would shoot. I had an Easton FMJ that didn't spin true so I sacrificed it for the cause. It weighed 525gr and I was shooting a Vortex (200lb) crossbow. I took aim dead at the target and then raised up to about 45 degrees and let er go. We never found the arrow that day, but 2 weeks later the guy who owned the property emailed me saying he found the arrow about 30yds behind the target. So that's at least 400yds with a pretty heavy arrow, from a midde-range powered bow. :D

My brother and I tested the Equinox in an open field and she flung arrows 400 meters before we ran out of room.
