Awshucks is No More

Dan you will be greatly missed, not just by the old timers on here, but by the newbi's because they will never get to visit his great knowledge on crossbows. Yes his knowledge was vast, but his kindness & personality was greater.

Many years ago I received a PM from Boo asking if I would acompany him to visit Dan at his home. I did accept Don's invitation and we went for the 24 hour drive to Dan's.

Dan greated us with a great big smile and treated us as a best friend. That trip was my first introduction in person to the forum kindness. Dan went way beyond to try and arrange a wild boar hunt so I am now able to say I have hunted boar because of his effort.

I have been on this forum for a very long time. In that time, we have lost many great members. Dan will be at the top of the list now for being greatly missed.

Mike, I am very sorry for your loss of a great friend. I would class Dan as a good friend and my heart is empty, I can't fathom how you are feeling today. Thanks for letting us know.

Mike, both his family and you will be in my prayers.

I am very thankful to have met Dan, more then once and concidered him as a friend. Dan, you will be greatly missed.

Sad news. Thoughts & prayers to Dan's family and all his many friends feeling his loss! The crossbow community/world is a lesser place without 'shucks! I never had the pleasure to meet Dan but his PM's to me and his "to the point" wit will be sorely missed in this world!

very sad, from reading all of these post it is obvious that it was my loss not to know awshucks better! sounds like he was a helluva person!! may god give the family and friends the strength to deal with this tragedy.
