sawyers permetherin

Post by longbow joe »

I probably spelled it wrong.ive been seeing this advertised a lot lately. Ive used it for 20 years i rarely get a tick on me. Never had deer react to it negativly. Here in the suburbs deer are used to lots a smells seems like you just cant smell like a human.funny they say it works on mosquitos i say first hand it dosnt work on mosquitos. Good stuff in a nutshell . If any ones got tick problem dont hesitate to try it. An old man turned me on to another brand long ago it was good advice

Joe, I'm gonna spray it on my ground blind this season, and hope it works as claimed. I won't hunt my stand until the little vampires are minimized. I'll spray the G/B, and hunt from it with the Xbow until I can comfortably hunt in the tree with the Hoyt.

I used to have 60 to 100 ticks on me here during a small game outing as stated i rarely get a tick on me anymore . Ive been out with non users and they were pretty covered. Them ticks give me the willies wen i find one. I even spray my day pac usually a treatment lasts a week . Spray clothes a day before smell will be gone its good stuff

I have been using permethrin here in GA for years and years, It works on both ticks and mosquitoes. It does not repel mosquitoes but does kill them when they light on it. I am deep in mosquito territory and do not use any other type repellent when deer hunting and rarely get bit. I quit using the commercial sprays several years ago also because of the cost factor and started mixing my own.

I'm gonna get some Sawyer permethrin from my local Dicks Sporting Goods for $8.99 a can and $14.99 a bottle. I like not having to mix it because it looks like it comes ready to use as is.

This thread and you guy's have me thinking, This permethrin treatment might be a good thing for me this season, even though last Archery season we had no issues with ticks, in where we hunted in MS. But the mosquitoes were terrible,But were taken care of 100% by our thermacell unit's.With that said though i can't stand them ticks..I have hunted in KY, and Georgia where they were so bad that.... Yep to be on the safe side think i'll get me some.. Thanks..

Ticks, skeeters, and chiggers are real bad here in Kentucky this year, skeeters pert-near carried me off while I was putting up ladder stand and blind in the creek bottoms. I mix my own permethrin and it works when I use it. Problem was I'd didn't have clothes I was wearing when I set up stands and clearing shooting lanes treated and the chiggers tore me up! But it does work well when used. I won't hunt the early part of the season without it.

Possum.. Where i mostly hunted in Ky. Was around the Russelville area, And the ticks were like i have never seen before.. I ran across a stray dog up there and that poor dog was covered..We tried some of the local farms for the owner, but no one claimed him, with two of the farmers saying best thing to do was put the dog down.. I wanted too but could not bring myself to do so...We let him go.. Never seen him after that.. But will all way's be in my memory.. I hate ticks.....

Bubba, them ticks are bad news. My Stepdad got the spotted fever from the vermin that he picked up while scouting for a stand site. He suffered with it for several years then leukemia got him. Chiggers are bad on me as I am diabetic and those bites on my feet and ankles are hard to heal. Far as I'm concerned they are all useless vermin and from what I understand, permethrin kills them on contact. Just doing my part to rid my part of the world of these bloodsuckers.

One of our family friends has Lyme disease from those boogers. Nasty on an old man, no doubt. I'm picking up some of the Sawyers during the week, hoping we get some cold nights before I get out, I hate skeeters, and ticks.

Yep, I have had great success with permethrin since I started using it about 5 yrs ago. I bought the sawyers stuff the first year to make sure it worked as claimed. After that I started buying the concentrated 32% in 1 gal bottle for about $60. I can then mix it up and have enough for the entire hunt camp, dogs, and I can also spray it around the stands and cabin. I find it much more cost effective to do it that way.

Two things to always remember when using this chemical for pest control...
- Don't spray it on your skin only your clothes and give it time to dry before wearing them. It is not like deet.
- don't spray it on or around cats you like, but they can be around treated clothes or areas that are dry - it will negatively affect their nervous system

I can dig up the name of the stuff I buy off of amazon if any is interested send me a PM
