You need to put a few twists in your string to get the string off your rubber bumpers. Start with a 1/4" gap between the string and bumpers.
You will need a stringing aid to do this, and "Do Not Shoot" until you get it fixed! You could very easily damage your limbs if you shoot you xbow with the string on the bumpers. If you don't have a stringing aid you can call Danny Miller and he will get one to you in less than a week. 31.00 delivered.

you need to get the string off your bumpers.
There should be 1/4" gap between string and bumpers.
once the stringing aid is on and cocked, remove one end of the string and twist counter clockwise (probably 8 - 10 twists) to shorten the string.
If you don't have a stringing aid you can make one to get you buy until you order one. Do a search on slave string on this site.
If I can find it, I will post the youtube video I saw.

As said, DO NOT SHOOT YOUR BOW LIKE THAT! Wait until you get the stringing aid and adjust the brace height of your bow. The string will be a quarter inch short of the bumpers. The brace height is the distance from the riser/limb assembly where it meets the mainframe (rail), to the front of the string. The distance on your 405 should be about 3/4" which equals 1/4" off your bumpers.

Probably not, but don't shoot anymore until adjusted.

If you don't have a stringing aid you can copy and paste this link to see how to make a slave string.

You can make a stringing aid, out of lawn mower starter rope, to use until you get one from Danny. Here is a picture of mine. The loops are small 2" tied using a bowline knot which makes it easy to adjust the aid for length. Cock the stringing aid just like you would cock the CB BUT be sure the aid rope goes under the arrow retainer. Take off one end of the string, (doesn't matter which end), and put CCW twists into the end of the string which will shorten it up until you have 1/4" gap to the rubbers. Hope this helps.

The bowline brings back memories of the Navy basic training days - "the little rabbit runs in the hole, around the root, and back out of the hole".

Talk about knot tying and memory lane -- in the boy scouts I was taught how to tie the bowline one handed -- still do it that way today --- never learned the rabbit hole thing

I bought a 355 a few days ago from fleabay for a friend. When it got here the string was just like the poster here described. It was the factory endless loop with virtually no twist in it. If i counted right i had to twist it 19 times to get it out of the bumpers by 1/4 in. This may explain some of the limb failures you read about.
