Micro limb delam

Post by kayakyok »

So, I have about 60-70 shots fired from my new micro.
Had a dry fire around shot 17. Checked the limbs as advised carefully.
Also checked before\after each time I took it out to shoot.
All seemed well.
Was about to install air brakes tonight so I had to destring. The bow arrived pre-strung. This was the first time I had the string off. After the string was off and I was handling the bow getting ready to remove the limbs I felt a small sliver of glass on the bottom of a limb about in the center of the limb. It's small , but its a delam. Absolutely was not there when the bow was strung. Guess it's a good thing I found it now before I had a failure. I did shoot some with 100gr field tips the first night but was still at the 350gr minimum.
I'm pretty bummed. Brand new with a doz new arrows being shipped and hunting season 3 weeks away. Guess I go through the online warrenty process?
Just looking for feedback of what to expect. :(

Go through the warranty process from the yellow button on Excalibur's main page. You should hear back within a day from Dawn. Send it in to wherever they recommend and you should be good to go for opening day. I've used it twice. Once for my micro limbs and once for a faulty scope. With each case, I was back in business within a week!

If it is only a small limb splinter just break it off and shoot the bow. You can always send it in after deer season is over. Limb splinters do not usually hurt shooting at all.

I's maybe 1\2" long and maybe 1\16+" at base.
right at where the edge bevel quits and the limb has just turned flat.

Good to know. robertyb just recomended breaking it off if small for now, but I'm not sure if 1\2x1\16"+ is small. I'm new, the xbow is new, so if I can get a 2 week turn around this time of year I will probably just do it now.

My first was probably 1/2" wide and about 5" long. Broke it off and shot it almost two years before swapping it out. Never had a POI change at all.

ADF stopped dryfire. Was advised by other users to check the limbs anyways.

Up to you, I would shoot it, that is not a delam, that is just a splinter. My Mad Max had one worse than that about the same place, this was like you about 50 to 75 shots,,,, with NO DRI-FIRES. I have over 300 shots on it now.
Image

They will replace it if I want, I'm still shooting it and don't want different limbs, This is what it did in February last season.

This is how it shoots this summer 100's of shots later. 50 yards @ 362 fps.

Up to you, Excalibur will exchange you a new set, but I'm perfectly bhappy with the limbs as they are now!! Mine are staying with the bow!!

Return process already started so going to follow through, but sounds like I might be making a big deal over nothing.... if the sandpaper responses keep coming I'm breaking out the 220 grit for the next splinter.
