We have owned a few pair over the years. Nikon Monarch are a good reasonable set. We did luck into a set os Swarovski Els and I can tell you that although they are stupidly priced, you get an extra 5-10 minutes of light gathering on them. For hunting, I am not sure they would be worth the price, but for wildlife and bird watching, they are priceless Nikon are a good set.

Nowadays there are many good optics - get the best you can afford and they will serve you for decades.

I have two pair of Leuopold binos, an 8x42 and a 10x42. Each between 200-300 bucks a pair. Sorely disappointed in both. Clarity isn't there for me. Maybe they just don't match up to my eye sight.
They sit in the storage room. I use a FREE pair of cheapo Bushnells i got free with the purchase of a rain suit some years ago... and they are much clearer than either Leupy set I have.
Maybe just luck of the draw, dunno.

If you're in Canada, I just might be interested if you're of a mind to sell one or both. P.m me if you are interested. My older Bushnells had an unfortunate accident day before yesterday and I find myself without. I had a spare pair but I gave them to my son's rookie hunting partner.

I ruined myself the day I broke down and bought a Swarovski EL 8.5X42 binocular. My others just sit and never get used at all for hunting. I have watched a buck feed in a food plot behind my house for an hour after full dark and could tell him easily from the does at 125 yards. No bright moon was up either. Best money I have spent on sporting goods in my opinion.
