Had to go get me a pack of these tonight after seeing this post! Have been looking at them for a while just hesitant to pull the trigger. They do not shoot the same as my field points but I have yet to find a BH that will(expandable or fixed). They seem to be hitting about 1" high and .5" to the right at 20. Do they make a practice tip or just tape them shut?

Is that the O ring that came with it or are you just making sure there is no premature opening.

That O ring slides up to the ridge on the head about 1" above the set screw. It's a very thick band.

You can take the band off and tie it shut with dental floss and after shooting one just reshapen the blades. Mine flew like a fp out of my 355.

Congrats on the doe!!!! good job,,,

Sorry about ruining all that meat, and hope it didn't bust the gut's,,, this is why I shoot fixed blades under 1 1/4" cut, dead everytime,,, and when I do my job no meat loss,,,, to each their own, I want the meat and no busted guts, I'll be sticking with my fixed blades!

Who said it ruined the meat? I didn't! The hind quarters were fine.

I didn't mean all the meat, but now that Ohio has cut me back to 6 deer, I need the whole deer, even at that I will probably have to buy those expensive Indiana license again. The wife just doesn't get many chances to get out much so we are lucky if she get's one or two a season.

Many love these wider cutting heads,, and for those that do they should love em,,, I just never seen a need to leave that much blood shot meat, another reason I quit using Spitfires,,, I prefer 1" to 1 1/4", if I am 1" from the diaphragm I still have a clean kill, but with a 2" or larger cut, it's a busted gut bag,,,

But when the goal is DRT and no tracking ever, even if a gut or some meat is lost, these would be go to broadheads.

I'm in Wildcatter's boat. As I have said before (from data on over 500 bow kills)any BH will do the job well (median distance travelled was 50 yds, 90th percentile was 90yds no mater how you sliced it) when put in the vitals. My preference is a fixed blade head in the 1 to 1 1/4" range. I shot a deer Monday with a Ramcat. It went 30 yds. Short of hitting the spine, distance travelled can't get too much shorter. And as it was I had a great blood trail to follow.

But still, if you like the big heads - great! As I say, shoot whatever you can shoot accurately and with confidence.

I'm going to hunt the morning on Friday and see if I can shoot a doe broadside and see how the BH flies.
