Open morning found a very light rain (mist) falling and I headed to the farm I hunt. The landowner and I headed out in his UTV.

He dropped me off at my ladder stand (at the feeder) and he went on to his stand.
As legal shooting time approached a doe and her 2 fawns were munching corn 15 yards in front of me. (and they munched for half an hour)

We're out of venison, but I'm not going to shoot her this early in the year, and the fawns wouldn't make much of a sandwich, so I let them all eat and move on.
A couple minutes after they left a 1½ year old doe came in. Now that is what I want for dinner!

When she gave me a good shot angle the old Phoenix did it's job and she jumped 6' into the air with a big "mule kick", and took off up the trail past my ground blind.
I knew she was well hit, so I gave her about 5 minutes, then climbed down to look for the arrow.
It looked like it had done it's job.

Walked to the edge of the woods and she was down about 25 yards from where she was standing when I shot.

Field dressed her and walked over to where the landowners stand is to get him & the UTV to help get her back to my truck.
She's now in the walk-in cooler at another friend's house.
I'm going to do some repairs on his furnace ducts the first of the week, and he's going to convert her into packaged meat.
