Mounting a Scope
What methods do you guys use when mounting a crossbow scope to get the crosshairs level? I was thinking about placing a level across the flight fail to level the crossbow, and them placing a smaller bubble level on top of the elevation scope cap to level the scope.
Re: Mounting a Scope
Not very technical, but I just look through the scope and get the horizontal crosshair parallel to the limbs.

Summit, that sounds like it would work well. I put a level across the rail and hang a string with a weight on it across the room and match up my vertical crosshair to the string.

I level my bow and use a plumb bob string for my vertical.

And this is the best method! Get a plumb bob out about 10 yards away, and level the bow limbs, then set the scope to the bob! If you have both a vertical, and horizontal reference, like brick work on a fireplace, or house, that works great also for both references.W.Miguire wrote:I level my bow and use a plumb bob string for my vertical.

JP, I just got permission to hunt a place in Hobart. I'm going out to scout this week! It's on 750 W North of the water park about 4 miles!

Re: Mounting a Scope
Does anyone know what the recommended torque setting of the ring screws should be?
Re: Mounting a Scope
Degrease the manufacturing oils from the screws and tap holes and tighten ring screws with reasonable/sensible finger force with your Allen wrench evenly on both sides.

This is the best method I have found as well. Put a level across the limbs or rail and set the crossbow level, then us a plumb bob to set the scope to verticle.xcaliber wrote:And this is the best method!
