Brutal! Man that's the kind of injury where you have that 2-3 second "Oh crap, that is going to Hur----OOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!" Type of moments. Hope that heals up ok and with no nerve damage.

How do you get your thumb up that high though? There are return flanges on the foregrip.

On the factory stock you are correct. I replaced my stock with a custom walnut thumbhole that does not have the guards.

I've seen Aging's work on here so I'm sure that stock looks amazing. Now to clean the blood off of it.

Heal up quick and well!

 With that title, I had to click it.

It was everything I expected. I can only hope that the hit was so hard that it numbed it for a while. Otherwise that had to be right up there on the pain scale like a hammer to the digits.

Thank you the the valuable training aid. Nothing like a visual to tighten our shot groups.

I hope you have a speedy recovery.

OMG That is nasty. The first shot that my dad took with my axiom the string hit his thumb but fortunately no where near as bad just a lot of blood and a very nasty bruise.

maybe a grip safety in the forestock like some handguns have? or a bigger flange to keep fingers and thumbs out of the way. I have a very large hand and I have to be very careful not to have my digits sticking out.

I wonder if a good all leather work glove would have protected the thumb or at least lessened the damage. I think I will use mine shooting just to be safer. I really don't want to learn the hard way! I have been in the body and fender shop too often already.

I pray that heals well and fast. I hope the are giving you the good stuff for the pain. Sneak in a shot of your best scotch once and awhile.

best wishes on a speedy recovery!

I'm relieved to hear that Excalibur's engineering wasn't at fault. I'm keeping my bow (other than trigger change) to utterly factory original.

I like the anti dry fire device and the anti thumb tickler flange on the stock. After seeing your photos, I REALLY like the anti thumb tickler flange.

Thanks for sharing, and heal well and fast.

I thought it was bad enough with a light limbed bow for Boy Scouts present on just the thumb nail .

Makes me glad I don't grip the forestock. I shoot flat handed with my palm facing up. Dang it! I can't get over that. That was the second crossbow fear. The first is the broadhead arrow through the foot and I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT!
