405 vs thumb - warning graphic pics.
I can honestly say I have never dry fired a crossbow ever. Instead I have done this twice in the last 10 years. Seven stitches for now and an appointment with the plastic surgeon next week.

I've done it twice as well, but not as bad as that and never with a 405.

He said that if it had been a stock string I would have been fine but because the bow was sporting a "Boo special" my days at the ivory are over.

Twice you say, ewww thats a painful lesson OJT i guess. Thats really the reason i traded Kong off those 405's are thumb eaters. I pray it heals properly n fast n you shall be able to use it well again
