what should i do

Post by Red_label-jr »

here's my issue

a few years ago I took a spill and fractured my kneecap. it's obviously not going to be the same. I can still walk on it okay< but when it comes to sitting for a while I'm in trouble. I'll become uncomfortable and it occasionally locks up.
I thought about getting another climber, but the problem with that is I might be able to go up. but if something happens as in my knee acts up I might be up there for a while.

so is there any advice/tips on blinds, should I still get the stand in hopes I could not have an issue....

any input would be awesome! thanks

If your hunting on private land how about a ladder stand?

I would not chance it happening while descending, Even if you had a partner close by to assist you it may still be difficult getting down. Having one of those newer fall arrest safe descending safety ropes may be your only and best option if using a climber..

Chris I`m no expert . But if you have even the slightest worry about whether or not your leg might give out because of your knee .
Stay on the ground .
If your knee ever gave out while ascending or descending . I would not take a chance .

I kinda figured as much. I've got a couple spots where I've had them 40 yards away now. and I guess done a half decent job of hiding in plain sight.

thanks for the input

Sometimes plain sight is the best place to be. I know I have lost a lot of stuff in the house that was in plain sight. lol

There are some really comfortable ladder stands on the market. With a safety line, you should be good to go. You could even stand up and stretch your legs if need be.

I have a bunch of ladder stands. There is not a one of them I could not climb up or descend from even if I only had one leg. Just saying.

I have 4 ground blind and one is one of those hay bale . seems like we have the same trouble . I like them all and don't have any trouble shooting anything out of them. you might consider looking into one of them . my double bull is warranted for life and easy to set up.

Yep ladder or ground blind sounds like a plan and you know the set up routine ... I have slowed down and don't climb as much since my knees have got older !

was actually considering that option. I kind of like having to not carry anything in or out with me.
