New Grizzly owner

Post by Stocksoccer »

Just bought my first crossbow. I have been reading a lot of posts on here the last 3 months, that's why I chose Excalibur. Although are crossbow season is shorter, starts after second shotgun season till the end of bow season. I still bow hunt, but always liked the crossbow. Hopefully they will make the season longer in the future. I've shot the Grizzly, and love it so far. The crossbow was easy to sight in.I will fine tune off of a bench this week. Looking at broadheads now, so many choices. I shoot Rage 2 blade with my bow. Thanks for all the great posts.

Congrats / welcome / and the Griz is my next Excalibur! Any crossbow rated broadhead will do you well. I'm not a fan of Rage, but not a hater either. I would recommend one with rubber bands to hold it closed because these bows perform like they say they do! You will get burst pressure on the heads unlike what the verticals do. Some folks overlook this fact, crossbows impart full power at the onset of the shot.

New to crossbows and the forum too. I as well bought the Grizzly. Had a limb crack within 50 shots but Bass Pro replaced it. I have been bow hunting for 30 years but the shoulder won't let me practice enough and then not be in pain during the season. I have read a lot about broad heads and fixed vs mechanical and higher FOC. Buddies shoot Rage but I read a lot of negative comments so I went out and bought Slick Trick 150 Xbows and Rage 125 Xbows. The Slick Tricks shoot dead on with field tips out to 40 (don't have room to shoot farther). I haven't shot the Rages but have shot the practice tip and it is dead on too. The slick tricks definitely will have a bigger hit FOC is higher so I think I will start out shooting them. Looking forward to hitting the woods this weekend !!!
