Retrieving SD card images to iphone?

Post by Coon Gravy »

The trailcam thread reminded me... does anyone have/use/know of an SD card reader that will hook to an iphone. I have a couple of cams that take SD cards and don't really have anything that reads them anymore. Used an old camera last year that has since broken down. Sure would be nice to be able to look at images on the phone on site and then buzz off. Any thoughts or ideas?

No Apple doesn't offer the ability to upload via a sd-reader to your I-phone. They do offer it for I-pad see link - http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MD ... era-reader

Wait a second! No one ever accused me of that before!
I bought a bunch of 2&4 gig micro sd cards off ebay for like 4 bucks each. Two came with the adaptors. I just walk up swap micro sd and peek at it while in the stand! Just fyi not all cards come with the adaptor.

Ingenious!

This is the type of stuff that makes a forum like this awesome.

Joe, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, this being your thread and all. You should get you a real phone and then you'd be able to do this.

That is exactly what I do. I have an S5 Active, but I've done it with my last few Galaxy Android phones. What you need is a Micro USB OTG memory card reader. It plugs right into your micro USB port and comes ready to read multiple memory card types. You can pick them up on eBay for under $10 US.

Here is one, but there are others: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300882026266?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

I just pop the card out of each of my cameras and put it in the reader. Plug it into my phone and copy the pics to a memory card on my phone. It takes me 2-3 minutes per trail camera. Using this method I never have to bring extra memory cards with me. For afternoon hunts I do this on the way in so I can kill time in the stand viewing the photos.

I have a friend who routinely looks at his trail cam pictures with his iPhone 5. He got the accessory off eBay. I've been with him when he used it. I was in Best Buy Sunday and asked about one but they were out. They did have one for iPads and said by next Thursday should the ones in for iPhones . They do exist.

If you have a I pad you can load pic to it and then auto share to the I phone. In settings turn on photo sharing.
