Dr Stirrup Bumpers

Post by michigan man »

I received my Dr Stirrup kit about a month ago. I installed everything except the bumpers. I had D.M bumpers on at the time. I just got some REDS from Cabela's, took off the stock bumpers and tried to install the Dr Stirrup bumpers. The hole on the Dr Stirrup bumper is 5/16", the Reds ball is 3/4". I've tried to get them on, but no luck. My bow is a 355 and both the REDS and the Dr Stirrup bumpers say on the pkg. for Matrix bows. Anybody else have this problem? Any tips would be appreciated.

Yup, spit on the stem and the bumper and then twist them while pushing them on.
Don't worry, the spit will dry

I found when i did mine for my Micro that a little bar soap shavings and a water did the trick.

Take the bar soap and make a few shavings. Take the shavings and add just enough water to get it slick but nut slippery. Take the slick shavings and rub it on the stem balls until lightly coated.

After you coat the balls, take the bumpers and place them hole side up.

Take the stem and put it on sn angle while putting the edge of the ball on the hole. Press firmly and work the edge into the hole and as its going in raise the stem up straight and continue downward preasure.

They should pop in fairly easy, took me roughly 5-8 min from start to finish for both bumpers.

Good luck!

Well I finally got them on. I ended up clamping a 2x4 to my work bench and drilling a 5/16" hole to support the stem of the REDS. After lubing the bumper, I pulled the bumper over the stem. Thanks for all of your help.

Good to hear you got them on...they can put up a real good fight for sure. I applied a very thin film of Aveeno hand cream to my bumper opening and they went on not too bad. The hand cream dried quickly and the bumpers take a good bit of effort to rotate. :)

Don't know yet? I put them on my Vortex but I haven't shot it yet to see if there is a big difference. :)

I think so. I just got a new Vortex 3x9x40 Crossfire with the V-Brite reticle and sighted it in today. As near as I could tell, a little less noise and also less vibration with the new bumpers.

They're much easier going on if you attach the reds to your bow first (remove the string to make life easier). If a little spit doesn't work, use a little dish soap. :D

They are my favorite item of the Dr Stirrup kit, even more than the stirrup. Set up the brace height so that the string is lightly into the bumper. The instructions read "1/16" into. This really quietens the Xbow. Yes, they're worth it.

They really are AWESOME. Tremps showed me his at Boofest.....with over 1000 shots on them and not a mark on the bumpers or string. Very impressive indeed.

Those bumpers could also help protect limbs from damage, will see.
