Arrow tuning?

Is there a way to tune crossbow arrows foe the spine of the arrow like a v bow? I'm used to being able to get my broadheads to fly with my field points by adjusting arrow length and point weight etc...

Is there any rype of that tuning with a crossbow or do we just get the stiffest arra possible and put as much offset/helical on it as possible and hope for the best?

I'm not having any trouble with quills and boltcutters, but have toyed around with the idea of changin to a diff fixed head or puttin on expandables... I can't seem to leave the end of my areas alone...

A lot of miff goes along these lines. Get good arrows, squared ends, and enough spine, the rest falls into place rather easily. Spine indexing some swear by, others not so much. I don't index mine, and never look back. Other folks think it gives them an advantage, and if you believe, what harm could that bring?

Stiff spines, square ends,some FOC, helical fletched feathers give me 1" groups at 40 with fixed blades.. better with FPs. I'm just a hunter though not a 3D guy so that is plenty good for my purpose.

No, it's not the same. You want NO flex: just straight out. It needs to be stiff enough to not flex . Stiffer is ok.

ARE YOU SPIN TESTING YOUR BROADHEADS AND ADJUSTING SO YOU DON'T HAVE ANY WOBBLE. GET RID OF THE WOBBLE AND YOUR GROUPS WILL TIGHTEN UP.

NOT SURE ABOUT BOLT CUTTERS, BUT SLICK TRICKS HAVE A WASHER THAT YOU CAN TWIST LIKE A 1/4 TURN AND RE TIGHTEN BH AND SPIN TEST AGAIN, DO THAT UNTIL WOBBLE IS GONE....OR.... MIX AND MATCH YOUR BH's WITH YOUR SHAFTS UNTIL YOU FIND MATCHING SETS WITH NO WOBBLE.

I'm not having any issues now. Any discrepancies in Broadhead flight I have now is directly related to arrow wobble from the BH I have used on 2 deer so far, or a funny insert. This makes sense to me and is easily corrected.

It makes sense to me that the stiffest arrow possible is the best, and the most offset or helical possible will help mitigate the differences in BH Vs. FP flight.

My biggest concern with BH hitting alongside FP is that I know the arrow is flying as true as possible and has the most potential for the best penetration possible.

I can also see the benefits to spine indexing but unless shooting target faces for score, I think you'll be hard pressed to see the difference.

Any other insight is welcome.

Brian , I buy all my Arrows spined indexed . I think it gives you more consistency from arrow to arrow . If you've ever had a cheap dozen of Arrows and 4/5 that won't group with the rest untill you start rotating the cock vane you'll appreciate spine indexing . JMO

I think the main factors here are:

- the stiffest spine possible
- the straightest arrow possible
- squaring both ends and then the inserted inserts and nocks
- maximum foc (without being ridiculous)
- USING HELICAL FLETCHED VANES
- from my own testing extreme helical vs big offset is incomparable. Helicals, and big foc are simply the best combination I've found for fixed broadheads....and yes, you can bang off 1 1/2" - 2" groups at 65yards yards of a bench.

How do you get a helical to fit in the cock vane groove of the flight rail?

Do you just let it rub?

I have alot of offset on my quills and the cock vane is nearly rubbing the sides. I would imagine that helical would definitely rub the sides.

I've had great luck so far with stock quills and the offset on them, I've just duplicated it when refletching so far.
