Montana Decoys, and rainy day plans

Post by xcaliber »

Going to pack the blind, chair, Matrix 330, and Decoys. Had too much to do today to hunt, so I popped a new string on the 330, checked Zero, perfect, sprayed down the blind, bag, and decoys with scent killer Gold. Packing a big lunch, and getting in the woods early to set up for a long day in the rain. Here are some progress pics. Muzzy Tipped Zombies too.

I popped the decoys up in the woods across the street a few years ago, and sent the picture to my buddy, he thought they were real deer. I have had these for 5 years, only used them once on my in laws farm, took a fat doe coming right in to them mid day in a picked bean field. Hope to post pics. of a deer tomorrow in the back of the Tacoma! 8)

I sure will. I'll snap some pictures of these in the woods, you won't believe how realistic they seem in the woods. You can check out some hunts on YouTube using these, pretty cool! Long Bow Joe got the fire burning in me again on using these.
Thanks LBJ!

I had a tinks miss october " blow up love doll" it worked good this is my first montana decoy its so much easier to use n you dont have to worry about stickers n thorns defleting the old gal. ...good luck. I brought in a broken raggety old 7 tonite very exciting watching him come 300 yards to it . Im gonna hold out for bigger older model with bigger horns its early yet.

Good luck to you, but keep in mind that rain can make an adventure out of a tracking job.

Good luck! I too wish to see a pic of a nice deer in the back of your truck. :)

I get to observe relaxed deer because there is no legal hunting where I live, yet we are surrounded by deer. They are beginning to pick up the activity some, so in a day, or three, we should be seeing more movement.
Hope you get that buck Mike!

Well the good thing about this lousy weather is that when it finally blows out the deer will be moving that's for sure. I just rearranged my schedule so I now have 11/11-11/16 off!
I'm hoping to put another on the ground but this is the first time I'm targeting a specific buck. We shall see

Make a tail that blows in the wind for your decoy, or one you can move via fishing line, deer pick up on movement very well but do not have the best vision. I have a Renzo decoy, similar to yours but smaller I believe
