My son and I have been trying to get a real nice 10pt within bow range all season. The bugger has frustrated us non stop from not moving at all to only showing up in the last moments of light and then never in the clear or open.
Well, Saturday morning we go outside at 4:45 am
We wished each other luck and head to our stands. I jump in my Ranger and take off down the road .I get to my turn off and a doe runs across in front of me and stands in my cut corn. I stopped in time from hitting her ! while sitting there I have three more deer run past me all bucks with the big boy in front. He passes about 5yds from me and stops.
I engaged the ranger and try and continue and he moves in front and just stands there. I backed up and then try to go around and he puts himself between me and the doe! it was crazy as we did the dance three times until the doe took off and he scrambled to get after her. I finally got up my tree and then had to listen to them run and crash in the dark for 20 minutes. Daylight comes and I didn't see even a squirrel for the next three hours LOL
I got to say when I got out of the ranger in the dark I put a bolt in the bow and had my head lamp on.
Told my son I we got to get this bugger!

It appears that deer can act pretty crazy when they have "rutting" on their mind.
