Matrix 355 FPS stock

Post by Carey »

New member. Just bought Matrix 355. What is the "out of the box" all standard fps? Not inclined to change things, but just curious.

With the stock string( it's a fast string) and 350 grain arrows you will shoot very close to advertised speed with your 355. When the 355 first came out several members actually got a fps or two more than advertised .

Thanks, Are the Diablo arrows and 150 grain field tip about 400 grains? Is the stock string as fast as the Flemish string?

Carey, welcome aboard... Yes I believe the Diablo arrows with the 150 grain field points are much closer to 400 grains than they are to the 350 grain completed arrows for testing speed. Figure about a 1 foot per second loss for every 3 grains over the 350 grain test arrow.

Probably figure in the mid 330's with a 400 grain arrow.

From my understanding..... and I might be wrong.....but it comes down to the finished weight of a given string.. A thick heavy string will weigh more physically and have more drag on the rail whereas a thinner string weighs less and probably has less drag on the rail making it faster. That's my interpretation anyway.. :)

Thicker/more strands bulkier material, weights more = slower string.

Thinner/less strands, less mass weight = faster string.

Roughly for every 3 grains added to the string or arrows one can subtract 1 fps in the Matrix series.

A thinker heavier string will have a better contact patch to the nock leading to better accuracy and more string strands do absorb shock better and reduce vibration some.

Is the Dyna String that comes with the bow considered a heavy or light string?

On a scale I find the stock string lighter.

It is lighter, but honestly I don't weigh the strings. I was using a 32 strand string made with Rhino material. Flemish Strings have double the strand count in the loops than Endless Loop strings do.

My 355 out of the box with the supplied Diablo arrows and 150 grain tips are averaging 346 fps. My micro 335 stock out of the box averaged 322 fps. I find the micro a bit quieter. Both are impressive at 60 yards in accuracy.
