Didn't make it out for archery but was not going to miss the 15th .Sort of a rough morning , hurt my back yesterday with my hand pump .took a long time getting around and heading out in the am . The hike in was a bit rough but the trail had been recently cleared so that was defiantly nice . Got to my brush blind about 45min later than I'd have liked . Didn't see much other than squirrels and chipmunks . At 8:20ish a doe was walking by grazing at about 50 yards . She walked behind a tree and was continuing to slowly walk forward . I braced on a tree next to me waiting for her to step out , after she did the .500 lee round ball was sent through both lungs and part of the liver . She ran about 60 yards and pilled up within eyesight . First deer with and air gun(taken plenty with black power and bow) . The drag out was really rough , but got it done . I will be buying an air tank as soon as i can afford it ...
For those that do not know in Michigan airguns .35 or larger charged with an external high pressure air source are legal for deer and bear . Mine is a stock sam yang dragon claw .50 with a 1-4x20 heavy duplex leupold shotgun scope . makes about 210fpe with 188 grain .500 round ball and 230+ with slugs of a 200 bar (2,900 psi) fill .

Thanks guys . There are some very powerfull airguns out there . a shop here in MI makes a 72 caliber that's several times more powerful than my off the shelf .50 . also cost about what 3-4 of these would

Not sure I'd want to try to get one to 2,900 psi with a hand pump. My Discovery .22 is bad enough at 2,000 psi. How many shots can you get on one fill?
BTW - I noticed a .50 smoothbore (with interchangable chokes) in the last Pyramid Air catalog I got. Not sure how it would shoot round balls, but it would be fun for small game with shot.

Outstanding!!! I didn't know it was legal for us to use an air rifle, that's great! Air guns, yet another hobby that's in the rotation. If you haven't shot a some of the quality air rifles out today you should. Pyramid Air has an excellent selection of true hunting air guns.
I've been trying to seal the deal with on my first pistol kill but haven't had the perfect opportunity. Now an air rifle kill would take it to a new level. Congrats on the kill. What type of speed do you get out of a .50 round ball out of that thing? I know that much lead can pack a wallop.
