Grizzly FPS?

Grizzly FPS?
What is the FPS of the standard matrix grizzly with the standard bolts and 150 grain broadheads?
Is the grizzly rated at 305 FPS with all the standard defaults bolts string 150 grain broadheads?
Anyone used a chronograph to determine the actual fps out of this setup?
I think I have the Diablo bolts .

Re: Grizzly FPS?
Here is what I'm finding, correct me if wrong:
Diablo bolt 250 grain, bat broadheads: 150gr
Total weight 400 gr
Grizzly is rated for 305 FPS for a 350gr total.
Why do they recommend 150gr broadhead? This put the total with the Diablo over the 350gr used for the FPS test.
Any idea what speed mine is shooting with Diablo + 150gr. BAT broadheads?

Re: Grizzly FPS?
Excalibur rates its crossbows using 350GR bolts. That is to say; expect 305fps with a Grizzly, if one should shoot some 100GR heads since the shafts weight 250GR.
A 150GR head will slow you down some, like 285fps ish if I had to guess.
The 150GR head is said to have better penetration, better flight and better groups. You lose speed though and deer like to 'jump the string' so the decision is yours.

Re: Grizzly FPS?
Why does Excal (and others) show a rating with a set-up that essentially nobody uses?
Simple, you need some "standard" to measure bow A against bow B.
Doesn't mean anyone will use either that way, but gives you a baseline comparison. Additionally, how would you then measure speed? what set-up?
So the advertised speed of the bow is set-up using the "fastest string" and the "lightest arrow" (that it can safely shoot).
No different than the speed rating for loaded ammunition for center-fire rifles. The speed was calculated indoors, under ideal "controlled" climate conditions and shot through a 24" or 26" barrel even though the "average" rifle only has a 22" barrel and can never hope to achieve the "advertised" speed.
At least in the case of your bow, it IS capable of obtaining the advertised FPS if your ONLY concern is speed - it just may be "less than desirable" to shoot it that way if you want to use it for hunting or even target shooting.
Fastest possible almost never equates to "most accurate" or "most deadly" when you are talking crossbows. And if shooting "sub-300" is not something you are willing to live with then of course there is the 335, 355, 380 and 405 models.

Re: Grizzly FPS?
I guess I messed up buying the Nikon bolts XR, I thought my bow was very close to 305 FPS which is what the reticle is rated for.
Any idea how far off my crosshairs will be? Or what each crosshair would be at in yardage?

My setup is Grizzly with a Flemish string
Bolt total weighted is 406grn
Chrono readings are 297 fps

Re: Grizzly FPS?
Flemish is an upgraded string right?
Re: Grizzly FPS?
So what speed does the micro shoot ?
Is that simulation probably correct for my bow?

Re: Grizzly FPS?
Yes Flemish is upgrade
There are a lot of members that make great strings
And yes they are worth the upgrade
