Don't be bothered by the sky is falling crowd, or that's how it Begin's BS,,, shoot away that's what I did over a year ago, have 4 deer on the ground and a 153 7/8" 13 point main frame 10 on the wall because it shoots so well, he was at 42 yards. QC aint the best maybe, but you didn't hurt a thing thanks to you ADF system, and your limbs are fine! Just be careful and always check for a full contact with the nock before firing, and check your limbs routinely,,,, your good to go!

well fellas I have big deer on the wall with vertical bows and not over a bait pile..so that means nothing to me about your big deer..i had the same thoughts as you just shoot the 405 with chips and cracks well in the middle of a hunt the limb split and tiller was off ($1,200 bow with defective limbs) so home I went..at that point got the rma# sent limbs back put new ones on the bow bought a spear set and after 12 shots a huge splinter..complete bows (405) has been gone for 2 weeks and being exchanged for a 355..i can see how a dude wouldn't want to buy shipping tape and have down time but why settle for cheapness :D

Looks to me like you had an air void in the limb from manufacturing process that had camo over it that came off once shot. It will not hurt anything and is very common on Excal limbs.

i had a Micro fail with a limb crack on the back side of the limb under the recoil plate. Danny Miller pointed out it was a common failure area when i called him. your chip is right against the recoil plate. i would take the limb off and have a look on the back side. if tiller goes out thats a sure sign. with Kolorfusion the camo is transferred. ive seen the camo wear off on Excaliburs but never seen the paint chip off like conventional camo dip.BE SAFE!

Thanks to all for your responses, would have responded before this but have been fighting the worse I had in years since Sunday.
Going to keep my eye on this but will probably end up just getting new limbs. I a little paranoid about a 260 pound cross bow blowing up!

Thanks again

It looks like a small edge air pocket void that lost it's thin camo coating during use, the way I see it will not harm the performance of your bow due to the small size and edge location.

250,000+ linear individual strands of fiberglass are spooled together and compressed in a mold after mixing with resin at Excalibur. Sometimes a void cannot be controlled and can occur at the edges as air and gasses are pressed out and towards the mold edges.

If it were me I might layer a thin bead of arrow making glue to fill in the void and call it a day.
