Grizzly brace height ?

Post by L. E. Carroll »

My cousins new Grizzly came in today, but with no visable mark on the rail to show proper brace height....Can someone give me the correct distance to the "joint" so that we may mark the side of his rail correctly?

I gave him a string adjusting rope ( tool ) so I will show him how to use it as we set his new bow up tomorrow.
Hopefully, I can get a reply before then.

Thanks for the help with this,

there is a very faint line on the Matrix Cub i have. i would think the grizzly would be the same. im gonna rub a red crayon to make the line more visible. you can always pick up a set of string stops and use that as the guide.i picked up the Cub for winter use having the shorter stock. it shoots 305fps with a Matrix string  . the rear of the stock has a cosmetic flaw. it looks like they fused the last 2 inches of the butt area and didnt get the line up properly. theres a visible line and un even mould marks. good luck with the Grizzly!

Most Grizzly owners set the BH from 1" to 1.5" from joint .

On my Cub,, I measured back from the rail two points ,,,one @ 1" and the other @ 1.5 "...then I painted a small dot on the side of the rail at both locations. As mentioned before there is a line in the rail @ 1.5 " that is very hard to see.
When I upgraded my string on the Cub I began experimenting with the various brace height settings through the Chrono,,,it has been my experience that the best overall performance was achieved right on top of that 1.5 measurement both in terms of FPS,,and shootability. So if my string gets to much ahead of that 1.5" dot I painted ,,Its easy to notice and adjust.

Good Luck

Just curious, how far is that line from the riser/rail seam?

I looked at brace height in the grizzly manual and it says 1/2" to 1" from riser/rail seam but I read here that some are going 1" to 1.5" from the seam.
I'm confused? :? (Happens often.)

the manual that came with the Matrix cub says 1/2"-1" inch brace height. the line on the rail is at 1 1/2 inches. can it be a mistake in the manual?

So if I'm interpreting this correctly you were browsing the forum while at church?? Can I get an AMEN!!

Anyhoo...back to the brace height. Must be a typo in the manual or something? :)

Mine too. There is a mark at 1 1/2 on the rail. Very faint but its there. Didn't see it at first but the string was covering it.

Lol Well for your information, I serve my church by helping to park cars. I was checking my phone just prior to servicing. And yes, I've gotten the stink eye from the wife once or twice for checking my phone during service. Lol
