Hello to everyone

Post by Bcwn »

Hey everybody,
I would like to,take a quick second to say hello and pay my respect to everyone on this forum. I've been following this forum for a little while now, and I must say y'all got a great bunch of folks on here willing to help with any advice needed. I hale from the greatest state in the union, North Carolina of course. Been bow hunting all my life, but never owned a crossbow. Problem solved, mad max 380 shows up tomorrow. So here goes some questions

1. Change out the trigger yes/no?
2. The arrows provided in the package, how do they compare to say carbon express, gold tips ect.
3. The Tact Zone scope itself, I would love to hear what anyone has to say about that. The reason I ask this question is due to seeing some folks have some higher end scopes on their set ups.

Thanks again

Some folks love their tac-zone scope. I feel it never hurts to go with better optics. I am a Leupold fan myself. I have never seen on the forum, where someone spent the $ to get a Leupold and regretted it. The factory arrows are pretty good, the factory trigger is usable. As said above give your pkg. a workout , then decide what needs attention first. You can be very successful as is, or customize to your hearts content.

Welcome to the forum and a great introduction indeed. :D Regarding your questions;
1) trigger: contact Boo on this forum and get a Boo trigger job. You won't recognize it as the same trigger and a price that's fantastic. BTW., when you talk to Boo, buy two of his Flemish strings while you're at it. They change the feel and sound of the shot and they're really great strings.
2) arrows: the factory arrows are fine for hunting ranges but rather than replacing them with more factory arrows or the ones you've mentioned, I suggest getting into Black Eagle Zombie Slayer arrows with either 92gr or 110gr brass inserts and 2" blazers fletched with the Arizona Rim E-Z Fletch Bolt. This will allow you to shoot any broadheads you choose.
3) tac zone scope: for all intents and purposes, the scope is fine. Some love it, some hate it, some have had issues and others haven't. Some, like me, just like the best optics they can afford. I suggest just use the scope and see how you like it.
4) make sure you buy a stringing aid. Your bow came with a rope cocker but you need the stringing aid to adjust and maintain a proper brace height on your bow.

Congratulations on a dang fantastic bow. You're gonna love it!

Try yer outfit completely, then you can start to list yer likes n dislikes Then jus change one thing at a time n see how you like it after givin it a good workout. Trigger is liveable but not like a TT. If'en you don't like yer arrows Spynal Tapps are great investment, i get mine from SSA. Hey N C be a good State, i was stationed at Buxton Naval Base on the Outer Banks n loved it

....Welcome aboard Bcwn...a great introduction indeed and yes we do have a great bunch of people who ride the Excalibur Express daily and assist with any and all questions Excalibur....

....while you told us where you hail from, why not enter that in your registration information...so no one will ask you in the future...

....all great questions and equally great responses from the Excalibur Guru's...I do agree with one response....we have so much fun on this forum and the Excalibur crossbows are soooooo addictive that they just seem to show up in your house and you don't know where they came from....after all you can only shoot one right?....so how did I wind up with 4....???   ...Unfortunately, most of us have the same addiction sooooo...all I can say is be very, very careful!

Welcome to the forum!

I'd shoot it and see how it performs before I made any changes.

X2 what Paul said, welcome aboard and Congrats on your Mad max, I'm from N.C. also so if you need some help shoot me a Pm and I'll try to help. One other thing you'll need is a very good target to stop the 380, One of the best I've found is a Spyder Web Target for field points only. Good Luck and have fun and keep the fingers and thumb away from the rail. Eric

Hi again, I just noticed you're neighbors with Eric (Hester0305). Very fortunate you have a very experienced shooter near by. I highly recommend you take him up on his offer to lend a hand. A little time with someone with experience can save you a lot of time and headache.
