HOW BIG DOES AN ARCHERY BEAR NEED TO BE

some know aaron shot a bear last fall while moose hunting he measures 17.5" how big do they need to be for a F.R.O.W entry in ontario

he shot the bear with his phoenix

Terry I have the latest edition of Frow #7 edition and crossbow record Ontario wise is still 20 10/16 . 2007. with #28 being 17 0/16 think he would make an entry easily .

Bowhunting Big Game Records of North American (Pope & Young Club) lists it as what I thought min. was, 18" (black bear) but this is the 3rd Edition so rather old. No idea if crossbow is different but my thinking would be it isn't.

Sorry reread and don't know what F.R.O.W. is so I'm probably way off base.

my buddy said pope and young was 18" but just wonder frow is a big game measuring system here in ontario i know size to make their book depends on weapon. i shot a 143 deer with a shotgun that just made it but with a bow he could have been 130 i think

Pennsylvania has a record book and don't know what bear is but archery deer is 115" min. so is alot lower then Pope & Young.

My bear I shot in 2013 was 18 1/2, but was shot with my vortex. Pope and young doesn't recognize crossbows.

kevin thats funny you could shoot it with a 12 ga slug and they would ,maybe they need a new class
