Northern VA: Looking for local assistance

Post by spartacus1 »

Hello! I am a long time forum stalker, first time poster, new convert to the idea of recurve crossbows, looking to take the plunge and buy my first Excalibur. :-) I've previously hunted with firearms and a compound bow, and want to try crossbows now. I tried a Barnett compound crossbow, but I want to go the recurve route for the reasons that many of you have already expounded on.

I am wondering if there is anyone in the Northern Virginia area who would be kind enough to meet up with me and let me test fire their Excalibur crossbow, just so I can be fully sure this is the direction I want to go. Sadly, I have not found any shop in the area that will let you test fire a bow, and since I have never fired a recurve crossbow before, I'd like to do so before I take the plunge.

I know this is a lot to ask --- thanks in advance if you're in the Northern VA area and can help me!

Merry Christmas,

Jordan

spartacus1,

From where in the Northern VA area do you hail? I'm a 22LR shot from Northern VA and do most of my hunting near Hillsboro, VA. If you can't work out some other test shoot and you're in/around Loudoun Co then give me a shout.

If you have land overrun with deer and need help culling, I may even have an Excal you can borrow.
