After so many years...

Post by farm3rbrian »

After numerous attempts to save enough $$$$'s to buy an Excalibur (would not buy anything but the best) I finally was able to acquire a Matrix Grizzly. Except for the fact that the handbook in the box has no reference to a Grizzly anywhere in the text or technical tables, and the video included is totally out of date, I am thrilled to finally have my Excalibur. Looking to get lots of support, help and ideas from all of you

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on a great bow. :D There are a lot of videos you can watch on excal's site and most members here are a wealth of knowledge and happy to help.

Yep, congrats, and understand the maintenance part of things, brace height being the most important. You'll find that you don't have to spend a lot of $$$ to keep her running good, and being accurate as heck!

Nice! Congrats on your new Grizzly and welcome to the forum. The wait will have been worth it for sure. :)

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses and the warm welcome to the site. You are right- nothing but the best, great bow and a dream come true. Unfortunately, Excalibur really dropped the ball on the support materials for this model. I get the importance if getting exciting new products to market, but the supporting documentation and video material (although somewhat generic) requires some detailed, specific data that needs to be included with these products.
To beat an old horse to death, I am finding info about the exact brace height for my Grizzly varied and confusing. So these questions remain:
-what is the correct brace height for this model? - 1.5" out of the box right now
-should I wait until 20 or so shots before worrying about that?

Do any of you have the padded case? How does it stack up versus the semi-rigid case designed for the Matrix other than cost?

Thanks for your time and patience with us "newbies". It is great to be aboard

There is a scribed line on the rail for the BH at 1.5" and I believe most of the Grizzly folk are maintaining that or just under. May have to pull the string a bit to see it. I have nothing for you on the case. Congrats on the xbow!

There are several crossbow cases for less $$ that would fit the bill. My personal favorite for the Matrix Line is the Tarantula. Here is a pic.! There is generous storage space for accessories, and a full quiver.

Thanks again for the input. Didn't quite get the response I anticipated on cases, but no worry. Wife jumped the gun(no pun intended) and bought the Tombstone case for me. If not happy with it i will just get the other as a backup/supplement

I like to disassemble my bows and put them into a softsided double tactical rifle case. Makes for easy transport or storage. When they are bolted back together I still have single-hole accuracy.

I prefer the soft case because of the lack of bulk .
