Kids crossbow

Post by elknut »

Looking at the Micro for my sons 9 & 13. I like the Cub but there is not much differnece between the Cub and Micro in specks except for draw weight. What would you buy and why?

I would choose the Cub. I believe they would have a difficult time cocking the Micro. They are not going to enjoy shooting it if they have to struggle to cock it.

X2 on the cocking. I would say the Cub / Grizzly. Price, easier to cock, bullet proof, I mean I have not heard one issue with either one of those. Plenty of power, and they would be great backup bows down the road!

Go with the Cub for kids. Smaller stock fits them better and it is less expensive. Change out the factory string to a standard Matrix string and you are the same speed as the Grizzly. There is no way a kid will be able to cock a Micro.
If I did not already have a couple of Excals I would buy the Cub to deer hunt with in a heartbeat. And all in Black it is a bad ass looking bow.

The vixen would be perfect, easy to cock and will withstand dry fires. Great starter bow. :D

I also would pick the Cub. I have a Micro and the cub and there is quite a difference once you handle them. The shorter stock on the cub is better suited for smaller people. Both my wife and daughter can cock the cub but neither can come close to cocking the micro.

I think the Cub is still on sale for right at $400 thru Cabelas

That's 2 Cubs for less than the price of one Micro.. :P

That and it's size & draw weight would certainly have me going to Cabelas as your boys are really young.

Down the road, should they sill be interested? Let them mow some lawns and possibly shovel the neighbors snow to make a bit of $ and sell off their Cub's and make a jump up to a model they may prefer.
