Carl, the majority of Canadians do not hate the Americans, but as other have said some do not agree with the American government issues. Unfortunately, it seems most Americans know very little about Canadians and the media down there talk very little about us or only seem to report of negative issues like us not joining the war effort. Which by the way was also a huge embarrassment for most Canadians including the military.

I say "it seems most Americans know very little about Canadians" because I have spent a lot of time down there working and have had to correct many people on many issues. In one case I was in my Hotel bar having a drink and watching sports on T.V. when this guy I was talking to asked where I was from. After I told him, he and his chums looked like they would like to take me outside because they were not happy about our Governments position with the war. When I explained to them how most Canadians really feel they lightened up and then we continued to have a drink and slam our respective Governments.

The media is extremely irresponsible because they report on stories in a way that projects a negative perspective but if they did a complete story you would find that these things do not necessarily reflect the majority of Canadians.

Maple,

Here's a link to her most infamous qoute:

"Damned Americans, I hate the bastards."

Carl

You don't have to be smart to be elected to public office.

You don't have to be honest to be elected to public office.

When you are elected to public office you don't have to speak for all your constituents, or even a majority of your constituents.

As long as a plurality of your constituents fear or dislike your opponents just a bit more than you on election day, you will be elected.

On election day The Bimbo didn't run on a platform of anti Americanism. She didn't have her own platform. She rode on her party's coattail and got re-elected.

Ain't democracy great?

Our last election was a test of the intelligence of the electorate. We reap what we sow. Enough folks thought that Parrish was their brightest light that they re-elected her. And that was after she'd shot her mouth off over Iraq.

She embarrassed the electorate last time so they re-elected her. Take that! And guess what? She's done it again. I doubt this will be the last.

However, to answer Carl's question, my info is that there are alot of her constituents who are not amused with this last faux pas.

Question is will the the majority be stupid enough to elect her again? From what I can tell, probably.

Cheers!

You can't trust what the media says as being the whole story or truth.

You can't trust a politician to do anything! We can trust them to lie. Does that phrase even make sense?

10Ring,

Great article!! It sums it up quite nicely.....My dad always had a saying for people like this:

"It is far better to remain silent and be thought a fool.....then to open your mouth and remove all doubt!" :wink:

Once again, just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats!!

Here is a quote from that article, the underlining is mine;

After calling Americans "bastards" last year, this week she implied they are "idiots." Yet no sooner was the word out of her mouth, and caught on tape, than she denied saying it — before pleading with reporters not to quote what she had said.

Yet no sooner was the word out of her mouth, and caught on tape, than she denied saying it

IMHO, this is very typical of "politicians :roll: " of this nature, what a joke and disgrace.

All countries have their loose cannons in this case the "loose cannon" has a fuse but no "balls". I do not mean this as critical of Canadians but of ultra Liberals in Canada as well as the U S and a punn on the subject. I look on us all as residents of the North American Continent with similar histories and common interest. I do believe in defending ourselves and when necessary becoming aggressive. We have some hard decisions to make. Terrorism can not be justified.

If I did it right, this link should include her email address. Let her know what you think.

I think this quote from 10Ring's link says it all;

"Such intemperate language is not consistent with rational conduct. By the way, guess what word the dictionary uses for someone permanently incapable of rational conduct."

Can you say,.. Crazy Crackhead?? :lol:

I had another thought on this issue.

Many Canadian politicians of this "stripe" have been quite happy to let our millitary slide.

There are many issues, a well known one is that the search and rescue helicopters currently in service are older than the pilots. There are many other examples.

I am sure the assumption is: surely no one will threaten us in our particular geographical location BUT, in the rare chance this was to occur, we could rely on the U.S. for assistance. (Though as long as nothing is threatening, we can and will run off at the mouth).

For these politicians, it is great to criticize the U.S. when things are fine; if there was a real problem, I am sure we would see a very hypocritical change of behaviour. :?
