OT: Packing Again...

Post by IronNoggin »

Sorting gear time again.
It's a balmy zero degrees on the hunting grounds in Alberta today, but dropping to minus 18 by the time we get to go.
Snowmobile suit methinks.

Success in the last hunt (ongoing through today & tomorrow) has been GRIM. Not many of the Elk haven't caught onto The Game, and the bulls are making themselves downright Scarce as a consequence...

Rumors yesterday that the Military may in fact open up the Wildlife Sanctuary where the majority of the elk are hiding out in. Hoping so, or it will be one damn Tough Hunt!
Hmmm... Even if that does happen, it is likely to be Tough.
Educated critters and wide open vistas to run in...

Mountain Passes road cams certainly indicate it is WINTER Big Time!
Going to be a long run methinks...

300 Weatherby shooting fine & sighted in for 300 yards POI.

While I am "amped up" as I usually get in front of an impending hunt, I gotta admit I am a tad nervous on this one. Methinks we will certainly be working Hard, and need more than a little Luck to pull this one off!

Back to packing. Rolling Thursday. Catch y'all on the flipside...

I think the worrying is all for naught!
Whenever you set out for one of these, the results are usually good! :)
I'll place my bets on you Bud! One thing about Elk that's for sure is, "They are Big Target"! 8)

Hoping you are right Big Guy!!
Still fretting, and now trying to pack with the world's second worst hang-over. Been a spell since I over imbibed - last night's Planning Session went far to late, and FAR to many rums... OUCH!

Hoping there is something besides a coyote shoot or two to report upon my return...

Cheers,
