Tact Zone vs any other scope?

Re: Tact Zone vs any other scope?
I have two and they work great.
If I had money to burn I would get a better scope.
But I don't need a better scope for hunting or backyard shooting.

Re: Tact Zone vs any other scope?
I had a fairly new one on my Vortex and headed to a blind because I thought it was going to rain. About an hour after getting into the blind a small doe came in and I decided to check her out through my scope. When I looked through it I thought I must have laid it down and gotten dust all over the front lens as I could barely see the deer. Tried to clean it off but it did not help so I headed back to my truck after the doe left the food plot. Turned out that it was fogged up so bad that I could not use it at all. It had never been wet, etc. just fogged up on its own.
I sent it to Danny Miller and he traded it in for a Leupold Crossbones plus a few bucks. No more scope problems.
I am now getting a new M-350LE and am thinking about getting a Hawke XB1-SR which is basically the same scope as the Tact-Zone for it. Better glass and better built though.

If the Tact Zone had better glass it would be hard to beat. I love the way it lights up and doesn't wash out the crosshairs, but the glass isn't too good compared to some of my other scopes, but that didn't stop me from killing several deer with it before switching to a Leupold.

I can think of No good reason to change my TactZone because they both work great for my crossbow range. I even used the TZ the other night to shoot some 100 yard groups in the last couple minutes of light...worked very well even in near darkness.
And the fps zoom ring can be used to regulate much farther with the M380.
I love good optic glass so I do know the difference... My long range rifle glass is Swarovski for shots at 1000-1800yards..my Binos are 10x40 Ziess, and even my range finder is a Leica 1200....but I can see NO good reason to run glass like this on a bow that I shoot inside of 100 yards.... At crossbow range the TZ scope and Nikon binos are just fine.
If/when I upgrade, there is NO way in h*** I would spend $300 on a Leupold when you can get a Zeiss for $400

Actually the Zeiss is now $299.99 at right places.MTBighorn wrote:I can think of No good reason to change my TactZone because they both work great for my crossbow range. I traded my Tact Zone which fogged up and a little over $100 for my Leupold so I have about $200 max in it as I bought the Tact Zone on here cheap.

Re: Tact Zone vs any other scope?
If my choices are the tact zone or any other scope...I'd go with any other scope. That scope has a track record of very poor reliability and the low light performance is bad, I literally cannot think of a scope I'd rather not have on my bow. The fisheye effect is another bugaboo of mine. Some have had good luck, my brother and my Dad use them and like them. I just wouldn't trust one.

Darn you guys are going to cost me money!! That Zeiss is starting to look really NICE..
I am still not convinced that German glass is necessary for bow that shoots -100yards.
I shoot long range BPCR (Quigley Buffalo Rifle) with iron sights out to 1 mile...and do fairly well.

There is no German glass in Zeiss xb75 ......its glass surely made in China maybe in the same plant as the tact zone.....congrats on great shooting.
Give me that Zeiss with a 30 mm tube, illuminated, and a 44mm objective and I bet it would be the best crossbow scope made. Norm

Re: Tact Zone vs any other scope?
I've been using an illuminated Leupold VXIII 1.5-5 on my crossbows for a couple years, but before that, I used an illuminated Zeiss Diavari 2.5-10x50mm on one of my crossbows. Truthfully, it's way too much scope for a bow, but dang, it's clear and does collect light. I've recently bought a Zeiss XB75 and a Vortex XBR to try, but I've seriously considered going back to the Diavari.

I guess i should have realized it was too good to be true at those prices China made Zeiss!??! What have we become!coolhl wrote:

Real German ( Zeiss, ect.) glass is something you have to see to believe. A friend bought some VERY expensive Zeiss binos and we were comparing them to top end Nikons. Looking at the mountain behind his house the Nikons looked great!...then looked through the Zeiss.... And, "Hell, there is a bobcat setting on a rock plain as day!!" With the Nikons he just looked like part of the rock, even after you knew he was there
The definition with quality glass really can show a guy what he has been missing.
