Can i buy a Excalibur Matrix 405 Mega without problems?

Post by Bow82 »

Hello all,

i'm new here and i'm from Germany.
I have some questions about the Excalibur Matrix 405 Mega.

But i have heard that some Seller from Germany don't sell again the Crossbow,
because of it have some problems, i have read here: http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/upload ... Notice.pdf

But is the problems fixing now, the Limbs too?
I have read this topic from the other forum:
http://www.crossbowforum.com/showthread ... -OFF-LIMBS

And i can't find the data about the Crossbow, it is offline:
http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/catalo ... x_405_mega_

Let me know, can i buy the Crossbow without problems?
Do some have one and can tell about this?
Or is the new Crossbow Excalibur Matrix Bulldog 400 better?

Thank you so much.

Herzlich willkommen

Natürlich können Sie ein 405 Mega kaufen ohne Probleme.

Less than 2% of the 405 limbs have had problems and there are thousands of owners who are happy with their 405, including me.

The 405 trigger recall two years ago was isolated to a small number of first 405's.

If it was me I would order a spare set of limbs to go with it or buy a 355.

Welcome! :D Count me as one who also loves his 405. Regardless of which bow you buy, I would consider a spare set of limbs which can be purchased from Excalibur for about $80.00 CAD.. I keep a spare set for either my M380 OR M405 and a spare set for my Y25 Exomax OR Equinox. It's not a matter of needing them because Excalibur warranty is great, it's more a matter of insurance.

If I was in the market for a 400fps bow I would take a look at the new bulldog 400.

Some people are talking about 405-limb-problems 3 times after-each-other (and use the right brace height, using a 400 grain bolt or more), so i think it is not a small percentage.

I believe the Bulldog is made (it replaces the 405 in fact) because there was to much trouble with the 405. The new riser makes much less stress on the limbs, so the change of failure is much less also.

I would take no risks and go for the new Bulldog.

I agree with the 405 and a set of limbs fer insurance. or like was said, buy a 355 and you have no worry's,,, but no dri fire insurance or R.E.D.S. and no cheek piece. But the 380 is closely spec'd and comes with everything.

I think hallowed ground in the Matrix line comes with the "380",, I own 2-405's and 2-380's soon to be one 405 and the 2'380's because they are first choice fer hunting,,,,one in snow camo, and one in regular camo,,,, but fer me the 380 is the best hunting bow on the Market as we speak,, I have owned every Matrix model, and the 335 Micro, they all are nice, but all lack something, fer me. The 380 seems to do everything well, and comes closest to perfect in all aspects fer me.

I notice you are fairly new to the sight,,,, Welcome!!

I must ask though, are you speaking from any hands on experience with the 405,, or listening to hear say,,, you know,,, I was told he said she said??? Or have first hand owned and had a problem with a 405 Matrix?? I just wonder because I own 2 and wonder if I am that blessed by God,,, or is their more to others having problems,,, such as partial dri-fires, using wrong nocks, to light of arrows,, see it seems to me there are many new shooters shooting crosswbows and wanting the very fastest, without any knowledge of how precise one must be to assure no issues when owning any speed bow of any kind. Slower and weaker bows can tolerate much more abuse and that many don't realize they are doing, without having issues, the bows will take it. But when pushing bows to their limits, one must make certain everything is done exactly right.

No difference than a street car and a race car,,, get a little sloppy building an engine or a transmission in your daily driver and it will probably still serve you well,,,, get a sloppy building engines, tranny's, or running it down the track on a race car and their will be repercussions,,,,,,

I am not saying some issues won't come up with a few bows,,, but I do put emphasis on few! Just like race car drivers,,,,, some just aint cut out to use extreme gear,, it takes a little more attention to details if they expect success!!!!!

I have a 405 for two years and have had no issues. I use the standard Diablo bolts and a NAP FOC (170 Grain) head.

Thanks for your welkom!

No, i have no experience with the 405 myself. Some days ago i started a topic on this site and someone told me that he & his friend had several limb problems. Next to this, i was looking on the internet about this subject and there were more people who had more than one limb fixet. So, i asume they talking the truth. (see no reason to lie about this, unless you are a salesman from another brant)

I'm a fan of Excalibur products and hope i can more positive about the Bulldog. It must be a perfect bow, because it solved the 405 problem. (so far as i can see)

Sorry for my English. I'm the neighbour of the topicstarter. (dutch guy)

Your painting the 405 limb issue with a pretty wide brush. Your statement that "the new bowtech Excalibur limbs on the bows they have now don't hold up" is pretty far fetched. I do agree that the exomag and exomax were great bows but so are the new Matrix series. As with any bow manufacturer there are always going to be some limb issues but to categorically claim that all of the new series of limbs don't stand up is like chicken little crying "the sky is falling". There is nothing further from the truth.

If you are worried at all, leave your bow in a place we're it cannot be accessed by anyone but yourself and leave it cocked for a couple of days.

Hard to really know what to think any more :?: :?: :?: .
