"Brake pads"

Post by Minnow »

Hey guys and gals!
Just wondering if anyone has tried these "brake pads" Excalibur is selling? Do they just stick to your limbs and absorb vibration? Sound? Their doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about this product and I'm just curious about them. Any information would be appreciated

I had bought an Ibex SMF for my ex years ago. I remember firing the first shot and thinking about how loud I thought the bow was. I did buy the brakes as well as the bumpers and they made a big difference in noise reduction. I definately recommend both brakes and bumpers for the Ibex SMF. Other than the fact it comes as a basic bare bow I always liked the bow and it definately is a deer killer. Good luck.

I have used them on every bow I've owned and they do soften the shot. You might have to use some extra glue to insure they stay put.

A friend has air brakes on a M380, it cut apprx. 50% noise reduction, however in my two short years with my M380, I have killed 2 B&C whitetails, 8 coyotes and 4 gobblers and not one of them could get out of the way of a 18" zombie tipped with a 125gr Rage. Yes the M380 has a thwak at the pull of the trigger, but until these animals figure it out, I am not appling them on mine. JMO thanks jeff~

Sorry guys, it's a little confusing because Excalibur decided to call these "brake pads". They are not the same as air brakes, they apparently stick to the limbs and dampen sound and vibration.

Canoe13 where do you place them on the limbs?

I like them fine. How you apply them is crucial to them staying on.
- cĺean the limb surface with isopropyl alcohol.
- using your stringing aid, remove one full twist from your string.
- remove the backing from the airpad and hold the groove on the airpad against the string with the skinny end pointing towards the limb tip.
- slide the airpad against the string towards the limb tip until you make contact with the limb.
- press the pad firmly onto the limb
REPEAT FOR THE OTHER LIMB
- using your stringing aid add one twist back to your string. This will align the pad perfectly with the string and give it the gap needed.
