Low rings on tact zone??

Post by WarriorWithin »

Hi guys,

I was saving up for a hawke xb1 scope but got a very good deal on a lightly used tact zone. For the price I couldn't pass it up! Anywho I was wondering what rings would work best on my micro? I assume that I can use low height rings but wasn't sure. Any advice would be great!
Thanks

Red field 30mm medium rings are the lowest you can get and clear everything. I have them on all of my excals with tact and twilights.

They don't have to be Redfield but should be medium height. Lots of different styles on Amazon.

Be advised..LOW from one Mfg is not the same as "LOW" from another. You have to look up the mfg's dimensions to actually compare.

I personally know these fit as low as possible and still clear perfectly with both Twilight as well as Tact Zone on all 3 different Excalibur scope mounts. They are inexpensive, but are still nice quality. IMHO these are the BEST rings for Excal/30mm scopes and just flat out work better than every other ring I've tried(including expensive ones)

I torque the caps @ 20 in. # and the crossbolts @40 in #...they do NOT move.

Dead Zone scope needs medium rings also. Tried to put one on a bow yesterday with low rings and it would not fit as it bottomed out.

What size rings come with the package deal Excalibur Matrix 380 Tac-Zone scopes. I just bought one from a co-worker for my Vixen and it came with rings.

Warriorwithin, should of held out for the Hawke scope. I had 2 tackzones and way to much fish eye for me. When i pull up a gun or bow i want the scope right there without moving my head around to see out of it. You won't get that with a Chinese made scope it will be like looking through pop bottles till you get your head lined up in the perfect spot to see out the tactzone.Wish you luck . Fred

I have heard comments of the "fish eye" from some Tactzone owners. I guess I've gotten lucky! I have two Tactzones & have not had a bit of problem. The scope & focus is right there when I shoulder my bow. I have found my Tactzones to be great scopes.

Hey Fred,

I only jumped on it cause it was a good price. I might still end up with a hawke if this scope isn't to my liking (should be able to sell it no problem for at least what I paid for it!). Plus the tact zone is covered by excalibur's great customer service and I've got some time to try it out before the fall when I really need it.

Thanks again guys

Not so much luck as knowing how to set up your scope I think.
Set the eye relief and the ocular lens adjustment correct for your eyes and the fish eye disappears. This is pretty much the same for the Hawke compact also I have been told. It has some fish eye also if not set up properly.
